CurrencyFlip ("CurrencyFlip," "we," "us," or "our") is a browser extension that lets you convert selected prices and amounts without leaving the page. We designed CurrencyFlip to minimize data collection and to use information only where it is needed to provide its features.
1. Information We Collect
CurrencyFlip is designed to minimize data collection. We do not maintain a profile of your browsing activity or browsing history.
Selected text and website content
When you use the conversion feature, CurrencyFlip may access the value you explicitly select on a webpage. The selected value is processed for the requested conversion. CurrencyFlip does not collect or store the surrounding webpage content, page history, or browsing activity for this purpose.
2. Currency Exchange Rate Services
CurrencyFlip may communicate with third-party exchange-rate services to retrieve exchange-rate data needed for a conversion. Depending on availability and implementation, these services may include ExchangeRate.host, ER API, and Frankfurter.
These services are used to provide exchange-rate data. Their handling of requests is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.
3. Pro Version and License Keys
CurrencyFlip offers optional Pro features. Payment and licensing infrastructure for the Pro version is provided through Dodo Payments.
Dodo Payments may process payment and transaction information as part of its services. CurrencyFlip does not request or store your credit card number, bank account information, or other payment credentials.
After purchasing a Pro license, you may receive a license key. CurrencyFlip allows you to enter that key to activate Pro features. The license key may be transmitted to the applicable license-validation service solely to verify the license and determine whether Pro features may be activated.
4. Local Storage
CurrencyFlip uses the browser's extension storage facilities to store extension settings and state locally. Depending on the features you use, this can include currency preferences, interface preferences, Pro activation state, and license-related information needed to maintain activation.
Data stored locally by the extension is not automatically transmitted to our servers merely because it is stored in browser storage.
5. Browser Permissions
CurrencyFlip requests permissions required for its features:
- Context menus: Adds currency-conversion actions to the right-click menu.
- Storage: Saves extension settings and license-related state.
- Notifications: Allows supported extension notifications.
- Side panel: Provides the CurrencyFlip interface through the browser side panel.
- Scripting: Supports webpage interaction and selected-value conversion.
- Website access: Allows the extension's webpage functionality to respond when you use currency conversion on supported webpages.
6. Information We Do Not Collect
CurrencyFlip is not designed to collect or maintain:
- Browsing history or website history
- Precise location
- Health information
- Personal communications
- Passwords or banking credentials
- Credit card or bank account information
- Advertising profiles or cross-site behavioral profiles
- Surrounding webpage content when a value is selected for conversion
7. Third-Party Services
CurrencyFlip uses third-party services when necessary to provide specific functionality, including exchange-rate services and Pro licensing/payment services. Those providers may process information necessary to provide their services and operate under their own privacy policies.
CurrencyFlip does not sell user data.
8. Data Sharing and Use
We do not sell user data or use it to create advertising profiles. Information may be transmitted to a third-party service when necessary for a feature you request, such as obtaining exchange-rate data or validating a Pro license.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by CurrencyFlip. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the Internet is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
CurrencyFlip keeps extension settings and license-related information in browser storage for as long as needed for the extension's functionality. You can remove locally stored CurrencyFlip data by removing the extension or clearing its stored data through your browser.
Information processed by third-party services is subject to their respective data-retention policies.
11. Children's Privacy
CurrencyFlip is not specifically directed toward children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to CurrencyFlip, its features, or applicable requirements. The Last Updated date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
